Our School

About Carter-Lawrence

Inquisitive, observant and collaborative help describe the typical student at Carter-Lawrence Engineering Magnet. Our goal is to provide astudent working on neuron challenging, stimulating, exciting and nurturing learning environment where students in grades pre-K through fourth can learn academic skills and develop socially and emotionally.

Our distinguished magnet option, which emphasizes an engineering focus, features meaningful real-world learning experiences for students. Engineers and scientists lead hands-on activities both inside and outside the classroom. Students touch, smell and feel what it’s like the be a “real” engineer or scientist. Once a month, each grade level gathers for an A’STEAM’bly. Classes like P.E., art, library and music help round out the offerings.

To accomplish our mission of raising the achievement of all, we have high expectations for our students. We want them to meet benchmarks, graduate from college and make their communities better. These are lofty goals and ones we believe can only be accomplished with support from our students’ families. We encourage parents to get involved, whether at our monthly family nights, special community partner-sponsored events or through direct involvement with the school and PTO.
