Our School

Meaningful, Hands-on Experiences

Inquisitive, observant and collaborative help describe the typical student at Carter-Lawrence Engineering Magnet. Our goal is to provide astudent working on neuron challenging, stimulating, exciting and nurturing learning environment where students in grades pre-K through fifth can learn academic skills and develop socially and emotionally.

Our distinguished magnet option, which emphasizes an engineering focus, features meaningful real-world learning experiences for students. Engineers and scientists lead hands-on activities both inside and outside the classroom. Students touch, smell and feel what it’s like the be a “real” engineer or scientist. Carter-Lawrence kick-starts a strong magnet school pathway, with seats saved for our students at Rose Park Middle Magnet School and MLK Magnet High School.

High Expectations for All Students

To accomplish our mission of raising the achievement of all, students working we have high expectations for our students. We want them to meet benchmarks, graduate from college and make their communities better. These are lofty goals and ones we believe can only be accomplished with support from our students’ families. We encourage parents to get involved, whether at our monthly family nights, special community partner-sponsored events or through direct involvement with the school and PTO.
